Yangon, January 28 – seven companies from Myanmar will debut their wooden furniture, and other wooden handicrafts crafts, at the ASEAN Furniture Show which will be held in Singapore this coming March, according to the Myanmar Wood Based Furniture Association (WBFA).
The ASEAN Furniture Show will be held in Singapore from March 9-12 and showcase wood based furniture from about seven Myanmar companies.
“We will find out what kinds of prices international wood based furniture is sold for, as well as its design and technical side. We’ve considered that about six or seven companies from our association will travel to the expo to display [Myanmar wood based furniture].” said U Nyan Win, chairperson of WBFA.
“Instead of just selling the raw material of wood from our country, it would be better to sell finished wooden products. We’re currently preparing our wooden furniture to present it at the Singapore expo. We’ve also made plans to showcase traditional wooden handicrafts as well.” said U Kyaw Thu, a member of the WBFA.
Other countries from within ASEAN will also be displaying their country’s furniture at the show, while it will be the second time that the WBFA from Myanmar will have showcased their furniture aboard.
It is known from the WBFA that wooden furniture from Myanmar is currently being exported and sold to European countries and America.
